About Dr. Alvarez

Dr. Álvarez completed his Bachelor of Arts from Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota. He then went on to complete his medical degree at Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine, in East Lansing, Michigan.

Upon completion of his Medical Degree, he completed internship and residency programs at the University of Michigan School of Medicine in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A few short years later he decided to pursue an additional residency in Anesthesiology while subspecializing in Pain Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Álvarez is a founding partner of Space City Pain Specialists. He is fluent in Spanish.

With over 15 years of experience in pain management, Dr. Álvarez specializes in treating complex chronic pain conditions including spinal disorders, neuropathic pain, and cancer-related pain. He is known for his comprehensive approach that combines interventional procedures, medication management, and physical rehabilitation techniques tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

Dr. Álvarez is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology with a subspecialty certification in Pain Medicine. He maintains active memberships in the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and serves as a clinical instructor at Baylor College of Medicine, where he helps train the next generation of pain specialists.

When not treating patients, Dr. Álvarez contributes to clinical research focused on innovative pain management protocols. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and frequently presents at national conferences on emerging treatments for chronic pain conditions.
