Collin J. Gilstrap

Collin is an American Red Golden Retriever that was born on November 19, 2019.

Kaila Gilstrap (Director of Operations) bought Collin with the intention of training him to become a Therapy Dog so they could volunteer as a therapy team with Texas Children’s Hospital and other organizations in Houston. 

Shortly after he began his classes COVID delayed his program, so Kaila continued training him privately at home. He still hasn’t formally tested for his certifications as outside visitors are still not allowed in hospitals but as soon as he is able, he will test and become a Certified Therapy Dog. 

In the meantime, Collin spends his days at Space City Pain Specialists greeting every patient who walks through our doors with a wagging tail and a happy spirit. Several studies show that dogs boost endorphins in our brains that relieve pain and stress – so Collin is very effective in helping our patients and staff alike!

When he’s not at the office, Collin loves to spend time with his cousin Charlie, swim, and play fetch.
